After years of fancy diets and lame exercise routines, I eventually realized that I needed to move if I had any chance of shedding a few pounds, so I took up running and training with renewed vigor. However, being a bit of a lazy sod, when it comes to training and exercise, quite often I used to be too impatient to do a stretching routine before I went for a run and my excuse what that I didn't have the time for all that warm-up malarkey. You'll not be surprised to read that I suffered the consequences of not warming up prior to a run and got some pretty nasty sprains before I came to my senses. Although I knew that fitness experts put an emphasis on warming up properly to reduce the risk of sports injury, I always thought they were referring to older folks! Not so! In fact it's not just running, as warm up activities are a crucial part of any exercise regime or sports training and the importance of a structured warm-up routine should never be underestimated. But running and training also requires the correct footwear too. This is what's called high impact training and the legs, limbs, and ligaments can take a real battering if the incorrect shoes or cheap inadequate shoes are worn. It can be a bit of a mine field out there when trying to ascertain what's right for your style and training, so if in doubt, ask for help, but whatever you do, don't just come away with a pair of shoes because they look hip. So just what are the best running shoes and how do we identify them among the hundreds of options available? To start with, it doesn't matter whether you are a new runner or a longtime fanatic, you have to make sure that your footwear is not only comfortable, but that it also provides your foot with the proper amount of support and padding. If you want to take up running, the shoes are the most important piece of equipment you can have. Also, and this is important, when trying on running shoes, make sure you wear socks that are the same or similar to those in which you will run in so as to get the fitting just right. In the 21st century there really are some great technological improvements that have advanced in running footwear, but all this technology is useless if you don't select shoes that are right for you and your feet. Try to remember that a good pair of running shoes can be an important investment both in the longevity of the shoe and you personal protection and safety. The 3 basic parts of a modern running shoe are; the upper, the midsole and the outsole, but it's the midsole of your running shoe takes most of that wear and tear, as it has to keep giving you a cushioned ride for a long time. Some of the features included in today's high tech running shoes include motion control, and you might want to ask for details about how that works and if it's necessary for your level of training. But remember, whatever you do, do not pick a shoe because it looks trendy if you are serious about running for exercise. Personally, I found jogging and running the best training method for me to get into shape quickly and to loose those extra pounds. It also got me out and about 4 nights a week which was great. Look better, feel fantastic, but don't overdo it, or with regarding to warming up, don't under do it, and whatever you do, get the right shoes.
